Haiku IPP Print Bridge

Die Haiku IPP Print Bridge ist ein unabhängiges und experimentelles Werkzeug, das das Drucken von Haiku OS auf modernen Netzwerkdruckern erleichtern soll.

Viele aktuelle Drucker unterstützen IPP und AirPrint, können mit dem klassischen Haiku-Drucksystem jedoch nicht ohne Weiteres verwendet werden. Die Bridge übernimmt einen Druckauftrag aus Haiku, wandelt ihn in ein vom Drucker unterstütztes Format um und sendet ihn anschließend über IPP an den Netzwerkdrucker.

Aktuell unterstützte Ausgabeformate:

• Code Select Expand
  image/urf - AirPrint-/URF-Rasterformat
• Code Select Expand
  application/PCLm - für kompatible Drucker, insbesondere einige HP-Modelle
• Code Select Expand
  image/jpeg - als verbreiteter Rückfallweg

Welches Format verwendet werden kann, hängt vom jeweiligen Druckermodell ab. Deshalb enthält das Paket einen IPP Printer Checker, der die vom Drucker gemeldeten Fähigkeiten und Dokumentformate untersucht.

Aktuell bestätigte Druckerfamilien:

• Brother DCP-J series - getestet mit DCP-J1360DW
• HP ENVY 6000e series - getestet mit ENVY 6030e
• HP PhotoSmart 5500 series - getestet mit PhotoSmart 5520
• HP LaserJet M14-M17 series - getestet mit LaserJet M15w
• HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series - getestet mit OfficeJet Pro 9015e

Die Unterstützung innerhalb einer Druckerfamilie kann unterschiedlich sein. Entscheidend ist daher nicht nur der Modellname, sondern auch, welche Formate und IPP-Funktionen der jeweilige Drucker tatsächlich meldet.

Der genaue Pfad kann je nach Hersteller und Modell abweichen.

Bitte meldet bei einem Test möglichst folgende Angaben:

• Haiku-Version oder hrev
• genaues Druckermodell
• verwendete IPP-Adresse
• vom Checker gemeldete Formate
• gewähltes Ausgabeformat
• ob der Ausdruck erfolgreich war
• relevante Fehlermeldungen oder Logausgaben

Haiku IPP Print Bridge

The Haiku IPP Print Bridge is an independent and experimental tool designed to make printing from Haiku OS to modern network printers easier.

Many current printers support IPP and AirPrint but cannot be used directly with the classic Haiku printing system. The bridge receives a print job from Haiku, converts it into a document format supported by the printer and then sends it to the network printer using IPP.

Currently supported output formats:

• Code Select Expand
  image/urf - AirPrint/URF raster format
• Code Select Expand
  application/PCLm - for compatible printers, especially some HP models
• Code Select Expand
  image/jpeg - as a widely supported fallback

The available format depends on the individual printer model. For this reason, the package includes an IPP Printer Checker that examines the capabilities and document formats reported by the printer.

Currently confirmed printer families:

• Brother DCP-J series - tested with DCP-J1360DW
• HP ENVY 6000e series - tested with ENVY 6030e
• HP PhotoSmart 5500 series - tested with PhotoSmart 5520

Support may differ between models within the same printer family. The model name alone is therefore not decisive. What matters is which IPP features and document formats the individual printer actually reports.

The exact path may differ depending on the manufacturer and printer model.

When reporting a test, please include whenever possible:

• Haiku version or hrev
• exact printer model
• IPP address used
• formats reported by the checker
• selected output format
• whether printing was successful
• relevant error messages or log output
